Shizuka Apple
Shizuka which is japanese for "quiet" or "calm" was created at the Aomori Apple Experiment Station in Japan in the 1930's. This apple is a cross between Golden Delicious and Indo, which is the same lineage as its sister apple, Mutsu.
Shizuka resembles Mutsu with its large yellow-green fruit and sometimes has a reddish-orange blush. However, Shizuka is sweeter and less acidic than its sister Mutsu. It also keeps well and is excellent for fresh-eating.
